Last month, we were pleased to welcome two MEng Mechanical Engineering students from the University of Edinburgh to Quoceant for their six-month placements.

As part of their fourth year of study, the placement provides an opportunity to apply academic learning within a practical engineering environment. During their time with us, they will gain experience across a range of engineering and offshore renewables projects, working closely with engineers and project teams.

Both students have a strong interest in renewable energy and offshore engineering and are keen to further develop their technical knowledge while gaining insight into how complex engineering challenges are delivered in industry.

"Over the past few weeks at Quoceant, I’ve been involved in a range of technical work, including design validation, modelling in SolidWorks, and carrying out analysis using both SolidWorks Simulation and Abaqus. Supporting workshop assembly and contributing to Bills of Materials has also given me a clearer understanding of how designs progress from concept through to implementation. It’s been a valuable learning experience so far, and I’m looking forward to continuing to develop my skills over the coming months." - Charlotte

"My placement at Quoceant has so far been an insightful and rewarding introduction to industry. From analytical calculations and design work to composites manufacturing and simulations, I’ve gained hands-on experience across a wide range of projects - with even more to come. Working alongside experts in a consultancy environment has reshaped how I understand engineering in practice and has strengthened my enthusiasm to contribute even more throughout my placement - and eventually the wider industry." - Dimitris

At Quoceant, supporting emerging engineering talent is an important part of what we do. By offering meaningful, hands-on experience and exposure to live projects, we aim to help bridge the gap between academic study and professional practice.

We look forward to working with them over the coming months and supporting their continued development as engineers!
