Copenhagen Offshore Partners commission study of Q-Connect

Quoceant have recently completed a feasibility study for Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) to evaluate the integration of Q-Connect technology within a floating offshore wind project. The work considered the 66kV electrical quick connection interface with the platform and subsea infrastructure, and the steps involved in the installation and operations phases.

COP is a leading developer of floating offshore wind, with a pipeline of projects for Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) including the Pentland Floating Offshore Wind Farm project. Pentland Floating Offshore Wind Farm recently secured a Contract for Difference (CfD) making it set to become one of the first offshore windfarms in the world.

Quoceant are Scottish engineering consultants and specialists in technology innovation. Their Q-Connect solution is a family of marine Quick Connection Systems (QCS) designed for rapid, repeatable connection and disconnection of mooring lines and electrical cables. The technology was initially designed at a smaller scale for use with marine renewables and Quoceant has been advancing designs for larger scale versions of the system for use with floating offshore wind technology. This includes a high strength mooring quick connection system and a high-voltage electrical quick connection system.
